Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 17, 2026
P51 Media Ventures Ltd., doing business as Petfiliate ("Petfiliate", "we", "us" or "our"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through petfiliate.com and our affiliate network, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to four groups of people:
Website visitors: anyone who browses petfiliate.com.
Partners: publishers, creators and media partners who apply to or join the Petfiliate network.
Brand contacts: people at pet brands, agencies and affiliate networks we work with or reach out to.
Shoppers: people who click a Petfiliate tracking link on a Partner's site, video or social post on their way to a Brand's website.
This policy does not cover the websites of our Partners or Brands. When you land on a Brand's site, the Brand's own privacy policy applies to what you do there.
2. What we collect
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive information such as health information or government ID numbers, except for tax identification numbers that we need to pay Partners and meet tax rules.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- run the Petfiliate network, including reviewing applications, creating accounts and giving Partners access to tracking links and reports;
- track clicks and attribute sales and commissions to the right Partner;
- calculate and pay commissions, and meet our tax, accounting and legal obligations;
- prevent, detect and investigate fraud, invalid traffic and breaches of our agreements, and meet the compliance requirements of Brands and affiliate networks;
- respond to questions and send service messages about your account;
- send newsletters and marketing emails, where you have agreed to receive them or the law otherwise allows;
- understand how our website is used and improve it; and
- protect our rights and comply with the law.
We collect, use and share personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. Where the law requires consent, we rely on your consent, which may be express (for example, ticking a box) or implied (for example, applying to join the network). You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, although that may mean we can no longer provide some services, such as paying commissions.
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not use personal information to make decisions about you by fully automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above:
Brands and affiliate networks. To track sales and meet program rules, we share Partner identity, websites, traffic sources and click-level data with the Brands a Partner promotes and with affiliate networks such as impact.com. Brands and networks use this information under their own privacy policies.
Service providers. We use trusted providers for website hosting, link tracking, email, customer relationship management, analytics, payments and accounting. They may use personal information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
Payment providers and banks. To pay Partners, we share the payment details needed with providers such as PayPal and our bank.
Professional advisers. Our lawyers, accountants and auditors, under duty of confidentiality.
Legal and safety reasons. Government authorities, courts or others where the law requires it, or where needed to protect the rights, safety or property of Petfiliate, our Partners, Brands or others, including to investigate fraud.
Business transfers. A buyer, investor or successor in connection with a proposed or completed sale, merger, financing or reorganization of all or part of our business, subject to confidentiality obligations.
5. Where your information is stored
Petfiliate is based in British Columbia, Canada. Our service providers, Brands and affiliate networks may store and process personal information in the United States and other countries. When information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We use contracts and other measures to protect information transferred to service providers. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for, then delete or anonymize it. As a guide:
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards for the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections, access controls, unique logins and limited staff access. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant privacy regulator as the law requires.
8. Your rights and choices
Everyone. You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you access to it, correct it if it is wrong, or withdraw your consent to its use. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email. Partners can update most account details directly in their dashboard.
Canada. Under PIPEDA and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right to access and correct your personal information and to challenge our compliance. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
European Union, EEA and United Kingdom. If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you also have the right to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running your Partner account and paying you); our legitimate interests (tracking and attributing affiliate sales, preventing fraud, improving our site, and business-to-business outreach); legal obligations (tax and accounting); and consent (non-essential cookies and marketing emails where consent is required).
United States. If you live in a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising or of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Affiliate tracking cookies placed through our links may be considered "sharing" under some state laws; you can opt out through the cookie settings on our site or by using a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour where required. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
How to make a request. Email legal@petfiliate.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within 30 days, or sooner where the law requires, and will tell you if we need more time or cannot meet your request, and why. An authorized agent may make a request for you where the law allows, with proof of authorization.
9. Children
Our website and network are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Partners must be at least 18 years old. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other sites
Our website and our Partners' content link to Brand websites and other sites that we do not control. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, if the changes are significant, notify Partners by email or through their account.
12. Contact us
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for our compliance with this policy.
